History of the Volkswagen mini Van.
Literally, the word "volkswagen" means "people's car." Long before the minivan was a gleam in Lee Iacocca's eye, only Volkswagen offered an innovative van aimed at carrying passengers. Volkswagen had invented an eight-passenger van in 1949 called the Microbus, literally a small bus with many small windows on its sides like you might see on a bus or airplane. VW introduced a version of the van to the United States in 1950, advertising it as a station wagon.
